Rhythms of Connection | The Rhythm of Rest
The weather outside is changing (it is raining outside as I write this), and so are many of our schedules and activities! As we transition from the Summer season to the Fall, this is a time where many of us also experience some kind of transition in our school, work and/or home life. As we regroup and refocus for the school year ahead, it seems important for us to give some attention to how we are maintaining and caring for a healthy life balance in all our relationships. Over the next month at CitySalt, we will take time during our Sunday gatherings to teach about four important rhythms of connection that God has called us to prioritize and care for in our lives:
Rest: Connecting with ourselves
Communion: Connecting with God
Community: Connecting with others
Service: Connecting with our purpose
There are already so many potential demands on our time and energy, and the goal of this series is not to give us all one more “to-do list” for the year ahead. Rather, the goal is to encourage us to stop and reflect on how we are using our time, and what relationships God might be asking us to emphasize or strengthen in this next season. Maybe there are some practices or people we have been neglecting. Maybe God is inviting us to try something new. Maybe it would be good for us to stop something. Maybe God is asking us to form some different patterns and habits for the sake of our own long-term physical, mental, relational, emotional, and spiritual health. It is easy for us to function on autopilot or simply let the loudest voices dictate our priorities. We hope this time will provide us all some space to tune our hearts and minds to the Spirit’s leading in our lives in these important areas. In the first of this series, Pastor Aaron will kick off our Rhythms of Connection Sermon series with a reflection on the rhythm of REST!
