"Koinoinia" - Britni D'Eliso

As part of our current Fundamentals teaching series, listen along as Brinti D'Eliso brings this timely and challenging message from the New Testament book of Philemon on the topic of sharing together in the life of Christ.  She challenges us to consider how courageous conversations can help us lean into love and pursue Koinonia those who are different than us.

KOINONIA: Greek word for “to partner, join, fellowship” in a gospel way. (think Acts 2) Fundamental in that it is living out the Gospel.

 

 

Isaac and Sarah Komolafe | Foursquare Nigeria

Listen along as CitySalt welcomes friends and special guests Isaac & Sara Komolafe (Komo-LA-FAY) and Bill & Kathy Kieselhorst as they bring fresh perspective and testimonies from Foursquare ministry in Northern Nigeria.

Isaac and Sarah come to the United States every couple of years to raise support and visit their ministry friends who support their ministry. Bill presently serves as the North Pacific District Missions Connection based in Portland, Oregon. He advises and supports Isaac’s ministry by networking churches in Oregon for this ministry outreach. CitySalt has supported their ministry through water wells and in the recent past and enjoys an ongoing relationship and love and support.

We have an opportunity to express love and gratitude for their service to the Lord through financial gifts. "Fasting and Prayer" by Lee Schnabel

Listen along as Lee Schnabel shares this teaching and challenge on the topic of fasting and prayer.  He challenged our congregation to intercede on behalf of our leaders by seeking God’s provision, protection, peace and presence for each of them. Lee also invited the congregation to sign up to pray and fast each Wednesday (from April 25-June 27) as an ongoing support to those who carry the heart and vision for ministry that flows from our collective efforts together as a church. "David and Abishag" by John Rice

Listen along as Pastor John finishes our series on the OT character of David in 1 Kings 1-2. The story brings us to the end of King David's life with an unusual person caring for him in his last days. John also interviews Pastor Dusty about his experience with a man who passed away from cancer a few years ago and what he learned. Additionally, a brief video by Dr. Brene Brown was shared that illustrates the difference between empathy and sympathy.

"SIN | David and Bathsheba" by Dusty Johnson

Listen along as Pastor Dusty shares this message about King David and asks the question, "How does the man after God's own heart, end up being the man after another man's wife?" This message is based in 2 Samuel 9-12 and is certainly relevant to our current #MeToo movement as leaders are facing issues around what Dusty refers to as the "PP problem" in the United States (Penis+Power=Potential Problem). Dusty challenges Christ followers to pay attention to the condition of our own souls so that we don't end up suffering from consequences of our choices that are not in line with who God is calling us to be. 

Britni D'Eliso also shares about the difference between guilt and shame in the wrap up of the message.

Big Table Sunday Interviews | November 2017

Introducing Sue Paris! (Interviewed by Pam Sand)
Sue is a joyful, kind, and courageous woman of God who loves to make others laugh.  She is a delightful friend, who can both celebrate the good times as well as walk through the tough ones with joy and an inspiring steadfast faith.  Sue is all about people, and has spent her life sharing Jesus’ love while teaching Sunday school, counseling, doing Bible studies, and being in relationship with her many friends, her family, and her church.  She was a hairdresser for 20 years, and for the past 12 years she has served as an Independent Senior Care Companion. Sue also has a passion for cooking, and anytime she’s involved you may find yourself getting a delicious treat or meal! 

Introducing Aaron Porter! (Interviewed by Mike D'Eliso)
Aaron is a deep water person who loves neighbors well, advocates for the least, and has a hunger for spiritual truth. He recently graduated with his masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Oregon. Aaron recently launched his career and currently works as a therapist for Looking Glass by helping young men overcome adversity and discover their full potential. Aaron and his partner Logan Knauss are avid adventurers! Outside of the counseling office, you'll likely find them challenging themselves to new heights on the face of a cliff somewhere in North America.

Introducing Sarah Withrow-King! (Interviewed by Dusty Johnson)
Sarah is the Deputy Director of Evangelicals for Social Action and the co-Director of CreatureKind, a project engaging the church on farmed animal welfare. Sarah grew up in Eugene, and has just relocated with her partner, Giehl, and son, Isaiah, back to the area after fifteen years on the east coast, most recently in Philadelphia. Sarah is the author of Animals Are Not Ours: An Evangelical Animal Liberation Theology and Vegangelical: How Caring for Animals Can Shape Your Faith.  She’s not very good at having fun outside of work, but loves the TV show The West Wing so much that she’s helping coordinate a fan weekend, like ComicCon, but for The West Wing. She’ll read almost anything, loves her gym, and always says goodnight to her dogs.
