CitySalt | Input Session 2 | Tuesday, May 7th | 6:00pm

  • CitySalt Church 661 East 19th Avenue Eugene, OR, 97402 United States (map)

We need your voice!

As CitySalt is undertaking our task of examining, refining, and articulating that which is uniquely core to who we are as a church we absolutely need your voice, your experience, and your prayers!

Please join us on the evening of Tuesday, May 7th, at 6:30pm at The Box for a time of seeking the Lord through guided discussion on the topic of CitySalt’s core values.

No requirement to have attended the first input session to participate in this session. The focus of this 2nd gathering will be on sharing stories and responses to different core value-type statements.

Light desserts will be on hand.

No childcare provided, but any age is welcome to lend their voice (Each kid is different. Parents, use your discretion if you think your kids would be interested in this sort of gathering).

Read Pastor Mike’s letter to the congregation below.

Dear CitySalt,

I want to invite you to our 2nd Input Session on Tuesday, May 7th, at 6:00pm at the Box.

We were formerly calling these “listening sessions” but realized that this title might not have communicated what was intended. I wanted to listen to you, not have you listen to me! Perhaps “Input” Session helps better communicate that the goal is to gather input.

Input to what you ask?

The process of identifying and articulating our congregation's Core Values, Mission, and Vision for ministry. Big stuff!

No, we will not settle this in one session. And perhaps you’ve heard me in the past talk about the goal of this work. The value of taking some time to consider and articulate our congregation's identity, deeply held values, and inspired direction will hopefully serve as guiding principles for future decisions, strategies, and goals. Of course, as a Jesus-worshiping community we join the whole of Christendom in a shared mission, yet, there is also something unique to us as a congregation in this cultural time, place, and people that is beautifully specific and unique. When this is unexamined we’re left a little aimless. When explored and determined we are bolstered and strengthened!

This work is best when we gather as many congregational voices as we can rather than just particular leaders! What’s tricky is building some structure for all these voices to be fully heard.

As I outlined in our Annual Business Meeting on January 28th, we will be hosting a series of Input/Listening Sessions this year for the congregation to speak into, share your heart, and shape these articulations. This will be like mining out raw materials. Additionally, we will have a monthly work group of select leaders to take the input from the Input Session and refine and distill the raw materials into actionable steps and clear articulations. Ideally these work group sessions and input sessions would be bathed in prayer and seesaw off on one another working toward the same goal.

If you are unable to attend the input session and would like to provide input, I would Love, Love, LOVE to get to connect with you individually for this conversation! I’m not sure there is a “perfect” way to go about this process, but I am convinced that as a holy congregation everyone’s voice and everyone’s prayers are important to the process.

Grateful to be on this journey with you!

Sincerely,
Pastor Mike
