Dear SouthHills Church Family,
It is with deep sadness that I write to you today. I pass along the following details from Pastor Jason Albelo of East Hill Church in Gresham who is our point of contact for the water well ministry we support in Nigeria.
As many of you know, the there has been much violence in the country of Nigeria. This past week we learned of a terrorist bombing that involved two car bombs in the Nigerian city of Jos. It was a planned, violent, evil act that took many lives. I am sad to report that this event has touched a family we have come to know and love.
Pastor Isaac and Sarah Komolafe are Foursquare pastors in Northern Nigeria. We have supported their water well ministry throughout the region and enjoyed their visit to our church last summer. This past week Isaac was in the United States for the annual Foursquare Convention in Dallas, Texas. While here, he was informed that his beautiful daughter, Lydia, was killed in the bombing. Lydia was an incredible young woman of God who was finishing up her final year of medical school at the university in Jos. Her smile would light up any room she entered. She will be greatly missed.
Please pray for Isaac and Sarah who are obviously grieving a tragic loss. Pray for all of their kids: Damala, who is probably trying to fly home from university in Ukraine; Dara, who is studying law in Abuja; plus Blessing and Faith, who are in secondary and primary school in Abuja. Please pray that God would be their comfort and strength. Also, pray for the church in Nigeria that fear would not gain a foothold in their hearts and that they would not allow resentment to grow. Instead, may this tragedy birth a new resolve for the church to demonstrate godly love in the midst of this terrible storm.
In His Grip,
